Why WUT?

If your goal is to undertake research and obtain a doctoral degree, Warsaw University of Technology is a place offering really great opportunities in this regard such as:

  • wide variety of scientific disciplines, within which your thesis can be realized, along with an experienced and professional academic staff providing effective substantive support 
  • ease of establishing contacts between a candidate for the Doctoral School and his/her potential supervisor – thanks to the availability of an intuitive supervisor database
  • the possibility to realize the thesis in a formula tailored to the needs and capabilities of each candidate, including projects and programs such as Implementational doctorate, Cotutelle etc.

One of the first things you ought to do before being admitted to the Doctoral School, is finding a candidate for a supervisor.

Admission within projects

Candidates who have obtained a scholarship of at least the same amount as the doctoral scholarship, granted for no less than 3 years from the date of potential commencement of education at the Doctoral School, may apply for admission to the Doctoral School. Recruitment of such candidates may occur within the dates provided for in the recruitment schedule for a given academic year and outside of them, particularly when this is justified by the assumptions of the project or program under which the person is applying to the Doctoral School.

The registration of candidates will be conducted via the IRK system www.irk.pw.edu.pl from June 10, 2026.

Submitting additional documents in the IRK electronic system:

-        a document confirming a title which entitles to apply for the School (diploma), and in case of lack of one, a certificate of passing the diploma exam issued by the Faculty/Institute (if the mentioned documents were not uploaded to the system yet)

-        declaration on the selection of one doctoral school/scientific discipline

NOTE! Candidates holding a diploma of graduation from a country outside of the EU, along with the recruitment documents, submit a certified translation of the diploma into Polish language (if it is in a language other than English) and a diploma supplement, as well as a personalized certificate issued by the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA), confirming whether the diploma is equivalent to a Polish diploma, entitles the candidate to continue their education in Poland and if it requires nostrification (formal recognition) or not.

If the Candidate is waiting for a certificate from NAWA at the time of registration, they should include in the IRK system the so-called recognition statement generated from the NAWA KWALIFIKATOR system and confirmation of submitting documents in the NAWA SYRENA system regarding the issuing of individual information about the diploma, confirming the eligibility of applying for admission to the School.

Accommodation in Dormitories for PhD Students

We are pleased to welcome all newly admitted PhD students to the Doctoral School of the Warsaw University of Technology and present the information concerning  accommodation options in university dormitories.

How to apply

The accommodation allocation process takes place before the beginning  of the academic year (or semester, for mid-year admissions).  Applications should be  submitted online through the electronic accommodation portal or via dedicated forms provided by Accommodation Centre (Centrum Kwaterunkowe)at the start of the housing campaign. Detailed information  about housing campaign is available at kwateruneksspw

  • Schedule and  deadlines are announced annually. Remember to follow official information regularly  so you don’t miss the submission window.
  • You must be aware that dormitory places are allocated  based on specific criteria, including the distance from your permanent residence to the university and your financial  situation.
