Microscopy Expert Among Warsaw Tech PhD Students

MSc Eng. Piotr Arcab is a member of the QCI Lab research group (https://qcilab.mchtr.pw.edu.pl/) and became interested in microscopy already during his university studies. Since 2022, while still pursuing his Master’s degree, he was involved in the implementation of the now-completed NCN SONATA 16 project called GaboScope. Since 2024, he has been working on the prestigious European ERC Starting Grant project titled NaNoLens. Both projects were led by Dr. Hab. Eng. Maciej Trusiak, Associate Professor at the university. Each initiative develops the same lensless imaging technique, but in different research directions. Participation in the first project allowed Piotr to gain expertise in LDHM techniques. Meanwhile, the NaNoLens project is implementing a completely new method of tomographic lensless imaging, while building on the experience gained through GaboScope.

At the same time, Piotr is involved in the NCBR LIDER XIV project, developing modern biomedical imaging techniques, and has also participated in three internal Warsaw University of Technology projects carried out under the IDUB Young PW programme.

His research activity focuses on breakthrough optical imaging technologies such as LDHM and FPM, which may find applications, among others, in biomedicine and the diagnostics of the future.

The PhD student can already boast an impressive record of 16 JCR-listed publications - including 7 as first author and 9 as co-author.

Congratulation on his achievements and we keep our fingers crossed for the continued dynamic development of his scientific career!
