Doctoral School no. 5

Doctoral School no. 5 prepares its students to receive a PhD degree in four scientific disciplines:

• architecture and urban planning
• civil engineering and transport
• environmental engineering, mining and energy
• management and quality studies.

The variety of the scientific disciplines represented in Doctoral School no. 5 creates for its students an outstanding opportunity to the versatile, interdisciplinary development. Supervisors offering the research topics in the School no. 5 are the scientific workers of ten units of Warsaw University of Technology:

• Faculty of Building Services, Hydro and Environmental Engineering
• Faculty of Civil Engineering
• Faculty of Civil Engineering, Mechanics and Petrochemistry (at Płock)
• Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography
• Faculty of Management
• Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering
• Faculty of Production Engineering
• Faculty of Transport
• College of Economics and Social Sciences (at Płock)

The didactic offer for the students of the Doctoral School no. 5 covers both specialized subjects dedicated to the given discipline as well as the subjects generally oriented, addressed to all PhD students in Warsaw University of Technology. This also contributes to the deepening of understanding of the connections between various areas of knowledge, necessary in the modern science. The School offers the support in conducting the scientific studies and publishing their results, as well as in shaping the skills of collaboration within the research team.

The units of Warsaw University of Technology, represented in the Doctoral School no. 5, have an advanced research infrastructure and wide international cooperation. Thanks to the programs supporting the mobility of the students, they gain a unique opportunity to establish their own, fruitful foreign contacts and participate in the international projects.

The above described activity serves to fulfill the mission of the Doctoral School that is a comprehensive preparation of the students to elaborate and defend the PhD thesis as well as individual conducting the scientific work.
